The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) is pleased to organize and host its International Tennis Federation Junior tournament after a Covid-imposed break. Advancing to the Quarterfinals at the ITF is Sarai Clarke. Sarai is playing in her first ITF at the age of 14. Sierra Rodgers is still competing in the R16 with hopes to advance to the Quarterfinals also. Marlee Martin also won her first-round ITF match in her first appearance at age 13. On the boy’s side, we have three boys advancing to the Round of 16: Michael Major Jr., Jerald Carroll and Jackson Mactaggart.
Bahamian juniors are taking full advantage of this opportunity provided by the BLTA as 22 Bahamian juniors are participating in The tournament, 12 Males and 10 Females. Participating on the girl’s side from the Bahamas are Jalisa Clarke, Rachel Thompson, BreAnn Ferguson, Marlee Martin, Takaii Adderley, Kaylee Kanuka, Sarai Clarke, Aryauna-Skye Davis and Saphirre Ferguson. On the Boy’s side are Patrick Mackey Jr. Michael Major Jr, Jerald Carroll, Khai Rees, Spencer Taylor, Anthony Burrows Jr, Savano Hanna, Jack Boals, Jackson Mactaggart, Dentry Mortimer Jr, Theo
Weir and Cohen Knowles.
The ITF Junkanoo Bowl is being held at the National Tennis Centre and matches start at 9 am tomorrow, June 27th 2023. Over 11 countries are represented including Hong Kong, Australia, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, US Virgin Islands and Canada.
Also participating in the BLTA’S ITF Junkanoo Bowl and seeded #2 on the Boy’s side is Cruz Hewitt, the son of former World #1 Lleyton Hewitt. He has advanced to the Quarterfinals.
