The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association(BLTA) congratulates Sierra Donaldson for being named Athlete of the Week in the Gulf South Conference (GSC) for her outstanding collegiate play during the past week.
On Feb 12th The Lee University women’s tennis team upset No. 23 Tusculum University 4-3. Playing as #5 singles Sierra Donaldson was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Loretz to set up the No. 6 singles match as winner-take-all for the teams. Carley Sickinger and Sierra Donaldson also won in doubles with a 7-6 (8-6) defeat of Julia Lopez and Paulina Loretz. Patric Hynes stated about Lee’s win over the #23 ranked Tusculum, “That’s the biggest win this program has had.”
Previously, in their season opener on Feb 4th The Lee University women’s tennis team opened the 2021 season with a 4-3 win over Tennessee Wesleyan University Thursday afternoon at the DeVos Tennis Center. Sierra Donaldson teamed up with Carley Sickinger and got a 7-6 win over Maria Way and Honoka Tsuji at No. 3 doubles.
This is the first time in Sierra’s college career that she has won this prestigious Athlete of the Week award. Sierra was previously named GSC Freshman of the Week in 2019. Congratulations and keep shining Sierra!
