RBC Royal Bank Bahamas (Limited) partners with The BLTA.
The concept of opening up the Sport to all interested persons has proven to be successful for The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA). After attracting hundreds to its introductory program over the years and impacting a great number of lives, the Association has started another Fall installment of its Play Tennis program.
The program which is conducted at the National Tennis Centre has young kids ages 5-16 who are trained in eye-hand coordination, footwork, forehands, serves, backhands and volleys. Many have continued their tennis journey after completing this program, adding to the pool of young players and to the growth of the sport. President Newton noted that “We are ensuring that kids have a viable medium that builds on positive attributes of camaraderie, physical health and wellness and teamwork. This is critical not only for our Sport but for the nation.” The community programs are also occurring in Abaco, Eleuthera and Grand Bahama. We hope to assist with the development in more family Islands over the next year.”
Partnering with the BLTA this fall to build a stronger community is The RBC Royal Bank (Bahamas) Limited. President Newton stated “This partnership means a lot as the sponsorship goes a long way in providing our children with more positive alternatives and options. We thank RBC who is a great corporate citizen. Developmental Tennis has been a core focus of The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association over the past years; former President Weir also jumpstarted the dollar-a-day tennis program. Now the “Play Tennis” program continues to attract new players to the game; introducing young persons to a Sport that may have seemed elusive. Now, more and more young and adult persons have become players and supporters.
President Newton concluded that “We will continue to build and grow our sport and our community. We welcome other corporate citizens to partner in these community-building programs through Tennis. It is important to give more kids more opportunities to grow and develop themselves.”
