The President of The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) Mr. Perry Newton along with the BLTA Treasurer Mr. Timothy Dames participated in an official courtesy visit with the new Minister of Youth Sports and Culture(MOYSC), Mr. Mario Bowleg. Also in attendance for the MOYSC were Mr. Eugene Poiter, Permanent Secretary and Director of Sports Timothy Munnings.
Since coming to office Minister Bowleg noted that “Sports is a lifeline as regards to developing the Youth for the Future” in an interview with local media. He also expressed his commitment to certifying coaches and sporting facility upgrades.
President Newton was pleased to meet with the Minister to share the positive contributions the Sport of Tennis is making in The Bahamas and to discuss the opportunities to further the development and growth of tennis. The BLTA, the governing body for tennis in The Bahamas looks forward to a productive partnership with the Ministry team to affect the lives of many through the medium of tennis with a focus on tennis sustainability.
