The Tennis Calendar of events continues with the Abaco Tennis Association(ATA) hosting its second annual BD Global Classic in Dundas Town, Abacos Last year the support and competition were great. This year the event is scheduled for Saturday, March 19th and Sunday, March 20th, 2022 and promises to be even better. The tournament will feature junior
and senior matches in both singles and doubles categories.
The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) encourages the tennis community to support the ATA as they continue to develop and grow tennis on the island of Abaco. The ATA has worked to advance the junior programs in Abaco including launching in the schools and has also worked
on its facility maintenance.
The 15th Annual Tim’s Refrigeration Eleuthera Doubles Tennis Tournament is back on and is scheduled for April 9th and 10th at Knowles courts Palmetto point Eleuthera. The event has been proudly sponsored by Mr Timothy Dames for the last 15 years.
The format is Men’s and Ladies’ doubles. 2021 Hall of Famer Mr Artie Johnson has been the tournament organizer from inception and continues to be an uplifting force in Eleuthera tennis, training junior and senior players alike. The BLTA encourages interested persons from Nassau, Freeport and Abaco to support the tournament slated for April.
The hosting of these tournaments by ATA and Mr Johnson respectively provides an avenue for Bahamians to participate in the tennis events in Abaco and Eleuthera. The BLTA supports the tennis development that is occurring on these islands.
