Free Tennis Clinic was provided to some of the children from the Ranfurly Home For Children (who expressed an interest in learning the Sport) by the Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association. Over the past couple of months, the BLTA happily welcomed the kids at the National Tennis Centre. President Darnette Weir stated, “We want to provide this avenue for the young boys and girls from the children’s home to experience the sport of tennis, knowing that if we can make their life a bit happier or better, we would have achieved our goal.”
President Weir extends thanks to all of the coaches who unselfishly gave of their time and talent to the Ranfurly Home’s children. Those coaches include: Mr. Wes Rolle, Mr Perry E Newton, Mr. Mike Butler, Mr. Ceron Rolle and Mr. Steve Taylor. Tennis players Donte Armbrister and Jackson Mactaggart also participated and provided assistance.
During the sessions, the kids were instructed in various aspects of the game, such as: forehands and backhands, and they also played matches. They had a fun and productive time!
The last session was held December 13 and the BLTA expects to resume this outreach with the Ranfurly Home for Children in January 2020. If you would like to contribute your time, skill or assist in any way(racquets, balls, prizes) to assist in the tennis clinics in the New Year, please let us know via return email.
