The stage is set for Bahamian Abigail Simms and the Indiana Tech Warriors in the NAIA National Championships! The team is coming off a huge Conference(WHAC) championship win and will be participating in another championship. Abigail and the team recorded 17 wins and only 2 losses and will be seeded #18. They are set to face the #15 seed, the University of the Cumberlands in Mobile, Alabama tomorrow, May 18th at 8:30 a.m. in the first round of the NAIA Nationals.
What a spectacular season for Abigail who was ranked on the national tennis polls in both singles and doubles. This is no easy feat! A native
of Freeport, Grand Bahama Abigail shared her views with us on this outstanding performance and once in a lifetime experience:
“First I want to thank Jesus for getting me through this semester. It was one of my rougher seasons because I was dealing with injuries for
the majority of it, but I’m grateful I was able to play through them and come out with the successes I had. I’m very excited and blessed to be
a part of such a big win for our program. It’s the first time in program history and surely not the last. Going to Nationals was one of
our team goals and we surely achieved that. I’m just hoping to go there and represent well not only for my team and my school but also
for The Bahamas. Tech’s women’s tennis successes are just beginning and I can’t wait for the big achievements to come.”
We congratulate Abigail for trailblazing in college tennis and we pray for continued success and favour.
