The triple threat of Donaldson, Clarke and Smith was once again successful as it was smooth sailing on day two for the Junior Fed Cup Team. Sierra Donaldson defeated Giammattei 6-0, 6-1, Sydney Clarke was victorious over Arevalo 6-1,6-1 and the duo matchup of Afrika Smith and Sierra Donaldson defeated Arevalo and Giammatei 6-1, 6-1. Coach Bradley Bain stated “The team is really focused and the girls are playing really well.
The win today puts us in the Main Draw and that’s where we want to be after Pool play. However, we have a chance to win Pool B with a win over Puerto Rico and play a lower seed in the elimination round. We came here to win the Jr. Fed Cup Pre-qualifying Event. We are prepared to play one point at a time, one set at a time and one match at a time to accomplish our mission.”
The Junior Davis Cup Boys were overpowered by the second-seeded team from Aruba. Kevin Yazagaray defeated Kofi Bowe in two sets 6-0, 6-1. Patrick Sydow defeated Donte in the first of three sets 6-1, Armbrister played great and came back to tie it up by winning the second set 6-4 but fell short in the last set 1-6. The duo of Armbrister and Bowe lost to Patrick and Frederick Sydow 6-2, 6-1. The 3 member team consisting of Donte Armbrister, Kofi Bowe and Yorgos Karageorgiou. Matchplay continues for the Junior Davis Cup Team on Thursday.
The Bahamas looks forward to positive results as the Junior Fed Cup continues this exhilarating run for the Pool B win. The Main Draw appearance by the triple threat of Clarke, Donaldson and Smith will be exciting and promises to be good for the Team.
The Junior Fed Cup Team will play second-seeded Puerto Rico tomorrow. They are focused on the prize as they continue to blaze in the tournament.
