The National Tennis Centre (NTC) partnered with the Oak Park Tennis Center in Chicago, Illinois to hold a successful clinic on Saturday February 13th 2016. Children from neighbourhood schools and in the community attended this one-day free tennis clinic. Two (2) tennis professionals from the Oak Park Tennis Center Luke and Mirka, worked with local coaches, Mr. Sandy Reid and Mr. Steve Taylor in organizing and conducting various drills for the children whose ages ranged from 5-14.
The coaches were able to instruct the young children in the rudiments of the sport of tennis including how to grip their racquets, and how to develop their forehand and backhand swings. During the three hour clinic, tennis knowledge was imparted along with principles of teamwork and good sportsmanship was also encouraged.
The NTC applauds the efforts of Mr Rich Shuler and Mr. Pierce Butler in organizing the donations of racquets and apparel to the clinic and recognizes their worthy efforts to give back to the tennis community in particular and The Bahamas at large.
