At the U12 ITF/Cotecc tournament in Santo Domingo, The Bahamas Boys Team faced the Dominican Republic in the semifinal match. Noah Russell who played the #2 singles lost 0-6, 0-6. Patrick Mactaggart played the #1 singles and lost in a competitive three-setter 5-7, 6-3, 4-6. This would be the only singles match Patrick would drop all tournament long. Kingston Rees and Noah played hard in the doubles but lost 0-6, 3-6.
The Boys would then face Bermuda to determine the 3rd and 4th positions. Noah would play in the #2 position, he played well but lost 5-7, 2-6. Patrick had a strong performance winning in straight sets 6-2 6-3. Due to a rain delay, the match could not be completed, so Bermuda and Bahamas were both awarded 3rd place finishes.
The Bahamas Girls Team would end the competition against Jamaica. In the #2 spot, Caitlyn Pratt lost 5 -7, 2-6. The #1 Marina Bostwick lost 3 -6, 0-6. In the doubles Caitlyn Pratt & S’rae Rodgers were down 1-6, 2-5 when the match was suspended due to the rain. Despite not getting the wins the Girl’s team was able to play some hard-fought matches and obtained good international exposure and experience. The BLTA congratulates its Boys team on a third-place finish. Congratulations are extended to the Boys (Patrick, Kingston and Noah) and Girls(Marina, Caitlyn and S’rae) teams, all newcomers to the international team representation. We thank the players and captains Coach Artie Johnson and Coach Sharon Greene for a good showing at the U12 Team Competition in Santo Domingo.
