In the last two weeks, the BLTA “Play Tennis” Program has proven to be a good source to recruit beginners to the sport. The children display enthusiasm and a willingness to learn tennis; an open and honest eagerness and aptitude for the sport. The majority of the kids are picking up a tennis racquet for the first time. The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association is leading the charge to add to the tennis pool with novice players to the sport. Providing free sessions levels with the playing field for beginners. The free clinics allow them to experience a whole new world; one they may have only dreamed about or seen on television.
Perry Newton, Head of Junior Development stated that “We are continuing to see growth in the Program. We will continue to work to teach the beginners the fundamentals of the sport and to help them to become sound tennis players”
The next session promises to be another exciting one. The kids are invited to come down to the National Tennis Centre to participate on
Saturday, March 14th at 10:30 a.m. Administration fee is $1 per session. All equipment is provided, kids need only to wear tennis shoes, shorts and shirt and bring some water and come prepared to have a wonderful experience.
