With an impressive 15-0 record(6-0 in conference) for the season the Indiana Tech Warriors will compete to defend their 2021 WHAC Conference Championships. Bahamian Abigail Simms who is a part of the team was recently named WHAC player of the week, her talent has undoubtedly helped the team achieve this unbeaten record.
The Warriors are just two wins away from tying last year’s team for the most wins in a season in program history at 17! They’ll have an opportunity to do that with a possible top seed at the WHAC Tournament in Grand Rapids, Michigan on April 29th and 30th.
The University of Alabama Birmingham held their college’s tennis awards and from the women’s tennis squad, Bahamian Sydney Clarke was awarded MVP of the team. Sydney put up an impressive singles record of 18-11 and 15-11 in doubles for her team. This play helped The Blazers to return to Murfreesboro for the 2022 Conference USA playoffs on April 21.
Jacobi Bain and Xula Gold Rush have a 16-5 season record. The Gold Rush will play in an unaffiliated group tournament in Springfield on April 21-23rd where the two top teams will move on to the NAIA nationals playoffs. The national playoffs are slated for May 17-21 in Mobile, Alabama. The XULA men are ranked 5th on the NAIA poll.
The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) congratulates Abigail and Sydney as they both head towards their respective conference championships playoffs and Jacobi who has the opportunity to qualify in the group tournament. We pray you all will perform well.
