The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association 2019 J5 ITF Goombay Splash Doubles’ Winners are Bahamian Jacobi Bain and Kesterman from New Zealand. Runners-up are Williamson and Rahman from the United States. Bain and Kesterman won in straight-sets 6-3, 6-3. The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association congratulates Jacobi on this double championship. Continue to shine!
Donte Armbrister who was the last Bahamian standing in singles played the semifinals match. Armbrister put up a good effort but lost to the #1 Gadachens from Chile in two sets 4-6, 2-5.
The Bahamas had 15 players in this ITF tournament. We are pleased about the level of Bahamian participation in this international arena one of the highest with good overall results in recent history. Jacobi won doubles and had quarterfinals singles. Donte Armbrister was in
semifinals in both singles and doubles and Sydney Clarke advanced to singles and doubles quarterfinals. Sydney and Donte finished their
junior circuit strong on local soil in The Bahamas. There are a lot of shining Bahamian tennis athletes on the junior circuit and on the horizon; Peyton Anderson and Denali Nottage, who made it to second round singles, Anthony Burrows Jr and Ryan Fox who made it to quarterfinals doubles, Gabrielle Simms, Kofi Bowe, Elana Mackey, Kaylee Kanuka, Kinza Johnson. In addition. first-timers to the ITF U18 circuit from The Bahamas are Kristen Major, Sierra Rodgers and Genesis Missick. The future outlook of the sport continues to be positive.
