Players in the U12 division competed in the first IC Bahamas Junior Series for the year at the National Tennis Centre this weekend. Athletes represented from Grand Bahama, Abaco and New Providence.
On the Boy’s side, Da’Shan Gardiner Jr. who hails from Abaco would come out on top and capture his first U12 title in a very strong performance over Aidan Russell. Both boys were undefeated in the run to the finals. Da’Shan would win over Aidan in straight sets in the finals.
In the girl’s division, both Marina Bostwick and Grand Bahama native Danielle Saunders played great. In what would be the last match of the tournament Marina was victorious over Danielle in a very exciting matchup. The girls went to a 1st set tiebreak with Marina going on to earn the win in straight sets.
Congratulations are extended to Da’Shan and Marina on capturing their first U12 titles in an excellent start to the new year. Congratulations are also extended to Danielle and Aidan on their finalist placements and to all the players in the tournament.
