With a 18-5 record the XULA Gold Rush was seeded first. The team received a bye in the 1st round and won easily 4-0 in the quarterfinals. Bahamian Jacobi Bain was leading in his singles but did not complete as the team had won already. In the semis, Jacobi Bain helped XULA to advance to the finals by winning in both singles and doubles. XULA is one of the two teams who qualify for the 24-team national bracket due to their finalist appearance. The NAIA awards two automatic bids to leagues or unaffiliated groups with 12 or more members. This tournament had 13 teams from the Red River, Heart of America, American Midwest and Sooner conferences. The team will play in the Nationals in May. We wish them all the best.
University of Louisiana(XULA), ranked fifth in NAIA men’s tennis, has secured their ticket to the nationals by winning their first
unaffiliated group tournament championship since 2013. Bahamian Jacobi Bain and XULA won easily over #2 William Woods 4-0. Bain teamed up with Patel and despite sustaining a loss in doubles 1-6 the team was able to clinch the win. The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) congratulates Jacobi and XULA teammates on the tournament championship.
Sydney Clarke and UAB Blazers had a very good season as they made a fantastic run to the quarterfinals of the conference championship. In the first round, Sydney won in doubles to help the team win 4-2 over Western Kentucky to advance to the quarters. The team fell 0-4 to No. 33 Old Dominion in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 Conference USA Championship.
The Blazers finish the 2022 season with a 12-11 record. The BLTA congratulates Sydney on a quarterfinals run.
Abigail Simms and Indiana Tech Warriors will compete to defend their 2021 WHAC Conference Championship title on April 29th. Abigail and the Warriors will be seeded #1. We wish them all the best.
