The Bahamas Lawn and Tennis Association (BLTA) welcomes to The Bahamas Mr. John Goede, International Tennis Federation (ITF) Development Officer. Mr. Goede was appointed developmental Officer for the Caribbean in May 2013. John has worked tirelessly on many projects for the ITF and has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the region and of tennis.
Mr. Goede has conducted many regional training camps in the Caribbean. Since 2014, John has held numerous tennis clinics in The Bahamas for children ages 10-16. During this time he has met with parents to guide the direction of their children’s tennis path and he has also met with various executives to impart his knowledge on the sport of tennis. During his present visit, a meeting was held with the General Secretary of the Bahamas Olympic Committee where they discussed various topics concerning tennis in The Bahamas with a focus on raising the level of coaching in The Bahamas.
Mr. Goede has a very impressive resume. He was previously a white badge umpire and was the former national coach of Surinam from 1996-2003. He is also an experienced Play Tennis(Level 1 and Level 2 Tutor) and has been a speaker at several ITF/COTECC Regional Coaches Conferences.
Mr. Goede is also scheduled to meet with the BLTA Executives on tennis development and junior tennis tournaments. During his stay, John is scheduled to hold a tennis fitness clinic for our junior tennis athletes in Nassau. The emphasis will be on fitness testing of performance players. He then travels to the nation’s second city Freeport to meet with the Grand Bahama Tennis Association on the development of tennis and growth prospects including school tennis clinics, and advanced juniors clinic.
The BLTA continues to foster the best environment and seeks all the assistance and guidance offered by John and the ITF.
