Jackson Mactaggart captured the singles and doubles U12 tennis title at the Abbotsford Fall 3.5 Star Tournament in British Columbia, Canada. Jackson was seeded #1 in the tournament in singles. In the first round, he did not give up any games winning 6-0, 6-0 over Panagiotopoulus. In the quarterfinals, Jackson would win over Adrian 6-0,6-2. Moving onto the semifinals Jackson would continue his great play, winning 6-4, 6-3 over the 3rd seed Meh to advance to the Finals. In the Finals, Jackson would face some stiff competition against the #2 seed Lin. The match would be decided in 3 sets as Jackson displayed great skill and composure all the way to come out victorious 6-5, 4-6,10-8.
On the doubles side, Jackson teamed up with Lin. The duo was seeded #1and received a bye in the 1st round. They would then win over Kwan and Tran in the semifinals 6-1,6-0. In the Finals Jackson and Lin won over Cheung and Dee in another thriller of a match 6-1, 4-6, and 12-10!
The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association congratulates Jackson on his success on the Canadian circuit as he represented the Bahamas well on This international stage. Continue to shine Jackson! Jackson has also volunteered this week to help out with the kids from the Ranfurly Home for Children in the weekly tennis lessons being facilitated by the BLTA. We commend Jackson on “giving back” in this way.
