The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association climaxed their 2016 RBC FINCO Jr. National Clay Court Classic this past Easter Monday in grand style with a Trophy Presentation Ceremony. The Association boasts of a successful tournament that catered to some 60 plus entrants from Freeport and New Providence. Over the four-day tournament, spectators came from far and near with watchful eyes to be entertained by budding tennis stars.
The annual event brought together juniors – both the relatively seasoned and the novice who just wanted to “get their feet wet”. No matter what group the players found themselves in, they all gave it their best, as they slid across the clay to hit the ball; making their parents proud.
BLTA Executives including President Elwood Donaldson, the president from Grand Bahama Tennis Association, Ms. Natishkah Barrett, parents, family, friends and tennis enthusiasts were all on hand to support these upcoming tennis stars. The Association thanks its sponsor, RBC FINCO for their sponsorship of this event for many years and their commitment to “giving back” to the community.
Among the top performers were Donte Armbrister, triple-crown winner, Michael Major Jr., triple-crown winner, I. Gabriela Donaldson, double-crown winner, Sydney Clarke, double-crown winner and Kofi Bowe, the double-crown winner from Freeport, Grand Bahama.
