Today, The Bahamas U12 Girls’ Team plays Jamaica and the winner advances to the Final of the ITF/COTECC U12 Team Competition Sub Region 3 in the Dominican Republic. A win will qualify the country as a top 2 finisher and eligibility for further regional championships.
After the dominant round-robin performance in Pool A where Team Bahamas’ Girls did not drop a match or a set, they now move on to the Main Draw. The Team plays Jamaica in the semi-finals round. The other two countries rounding out the top 4 are Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
The Bahamas Team consisting of BreAnn Ferguson, Saphirre Ferguson, Jalisa Clarke and Coach Marion Bain has performed at a consistent level and will face even more resistance as the top seeds (1 through 4) compete for the #1 spot. They are ready to face the challenge!
The Boys’ U12 Team Competition consists of only round-robin matches with the two top finishers at the end of the rounds advancing to the inter regionals. The Team of Jackson Mactaggart, Khai Rees, Jerald Carroll and Coach Jared Turnquest will continue with the strong performances to obtain the best possible positioning.
The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association congratulates the Teams for the successes thus far and encourage them to continue to exhibit their skills in this international arena.
