The 2019 Fed Cup Team has landed in Lima, Peru and are set for competition. The quartet of Kerrie Cartwright, Danielle Thompson, Sydney Clarke and Sierra Donaldson has practised in Lima since arriving on Saturday, getting familiar with the local climate and the clay courts at Club Terrazos in Miraflores.
The format is round-robin with two pools. Today the Open Draw was held and The Bahamas is seeded 2nd and is on top of Pool B.
Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago round out the pool. On the other end of the bracket is Pool A with host nation Peru as top-ranked and Panama and Bolivia as Pool B participants.
Team Bahamas held productive practice sessions under the direction of Coach Kerrie Cartwright. Player/Coach Kerrie in an interview stated that “We have a good group of girls and we look forward to a good week of tennis.” The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association wishes the team well as the Bahamas will meet up against its Caribbean neighbour Barbados around 10:00 a.m. TOMORROW.
Let us encourage and support our ladies Bahamas!
The picture attached is of the team proudly displaying the Bahamian flag on the courts in Peru. Special thanks to Faye and Florie, an international company for beautifully outfitting the team’s uniforms and the Bahamas Olympic Committee for helping to defray travel cost.
