Team Bahamas stands at 2-1 at the World Junior Team Competition in Santo Domingo. The team comprises of Sierra Rodgers, BreAnn Ferguson, Saphirre Ferguson and Coach Marion Bain.
The Bahamas opened up with a win over #4 seed Antigua. Up first was BreAnn Ferguson 6-1, 6-2. Sierra would lose her match 6-3, 6-1 bringing up a deciding doubles match. Coach Bain teamed up BreAnn in doubles and Sapphire for a winning outcome 6-7, 6-4, 10-6.
Day 2 for Team Bahamas versus Costa Rica proved more daunting. In singles, Saphirre Ferguson lost 0-6,0-6. BreAnn Ferguson also lost 0-6, 0-6.In doubles. BreAnn and Sierra teamed up but lost 0-6,1-6.
Day 3 today, Team Bahamas came solid and defeated Barbados 3-0. Sapphire Ferguson played first, the No. 2 position and won 6-2, 6-2.Sierra Rodgers followed-up playing the No. 1 spot and won 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. Coach Bain teamed up BreAnn and Saphirre for the doubles’ win 6-1, 6-0.
