Team Bahamas landed in Asuncion, Paraguay, where the 2023 Group 3 Americas will take place Monday, June 19th – Saturday, June 24th. The team consists of Kevin Major Jr. Denali Nottage, Donte Armbrister and Player Captain Marvin Rolle. Team Bahamas has a wonderful blend of talent, energy and experience. The talented team landed in advance of the competition getting adjusted to the country conditions.
This year the Davis Cup will be honoring veteran player Marvin Rolle. Marvin is a decorated Davis Cupper. This is Marvin’s 25th Nomination to Team Bahamas. His willingness to serve and represent the country is unmatched. His best run with the team is Group I Semifinals. Marvin has been a part of the Bahamas Davis Cup for 15 straight years. He has won 42 Davis Cup matches, 28 in doubles which is the most for any Bahamian player. Marvin’s Career High ranking in doubles is 681 and 1304 in singles. He epitomizes tennis strength, skill, and class. Marvin first played for
Team Bahamas at the Davis Cup in 2001.
The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association congratulates Marvin on this outstanding achievement. The honour from the Davis Cup to our most dedicated player is very fitting. Marvin continues to play at a high level and to commandeer the team. Marvin, you are worthy of this accolade and we salute you!
The Venue for Davis Cup is Club Internacional de Tenis in Asuncion, Paraguay. The surface is clay and the event will be held starting June 19th 2023 on clay courts.
The following teams will contest Davis Cup Americas Group III in 2023:
– Bahamas
– Bermuda
– Bolivia
– Costa Rica
– Dominican Republic
– Honduras
– Panama
– Paraguay
– Venezuela
Two round-robin groups (one of 4, and one of 5). Three nations will be promoted (Winner and runner-up of A1 v B1, and winner of A2 v B2).
Two nations will be relegated (including the nation in B5 position, and the losing team in A4 v B4)
Team Bahamas is in Group 2 with the Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Costa Rica and Honduras. The competition is expected to be high as the World Cup of tennis gets underway!
