The Bahamas faced its toughest opponent of the 2019 Fed Cup event today. Peru, the host country was able to overcome The Bahamas in the two singles matches.
Danielle Thompson would go on first for Team Bahamas. Danielle fought but lost 2 -6, 1-6 against Anastasia Iammachkine of Peru. Player/Captain Kerrie Cartwright was up next and heated up the courts jumping out to a 0-3 lead. Peru’s Dana Guzman came back and won the 1st set 4-6 and the second set 2-6.
Despite not getting the overall win Team Bahamas came out on top of Pool B and finished 2nd in tournament play. Unfortunately, only one country is promoted from this group in Peru, so Peru’s team will advance to Group 1.
The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association extends warm congratulations to Player/Captain Kerrie Cartwright, Danielle Thompson, Sydney Clarke and Sierra Donaldson on representing The Bahamas very well internationally.
Special thanks go out to all the supporters of the Team and those who travelled with the Team. BLTA again wishes to thank uniform sponsors Faye and Florie, an internationally based company and others who contributed toward the success of our 2019 Fed Cup Team.
We were pleased to have captured each moment along the way and share it with you.
