The National Tennis Centre (NTC) welcomed Centreville Primary as hundreds of children were introduced to tennis via this phenomenal program which has no barriers to entry. The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association provided easy access to tennis with the use of its equipment and the assistance of its volunteer coaches. Some of the groups that have benefitted include the Urban Renewal program and the Governor General Youth Award (GGYA) program.
President Perry Newton noted the BLTA is very pleased to share tennis with this great group of children. The kids were enthusiastic, attentive and willing to learn the forehands and backhands. This
opportunity to partner with the Centreville community is great. We encourage other communities to take advantage of the opportunity to reach the children. The impact of sports on this generation and the nation is very positive. Tennis will continue to be a viable pathway for the youth.
Thanks to all including, the Coordinators and Volunteer Coaches who made the BLTA Play Tennis Bahamas possible for the beautiful kids of Centreville. Thanks to Member of Parliament Jomo Campbell and the organizers from the Centreville community including Samuel Saunders and Michelle Armbrister. Coach Moss and Ms. Higgs were also on hand from Centreville Primary.
The BLTA continues to build the pillar of tennis sustainability with a focus on the young persons in the community through its Play Tennis Bahamas program. The program which continues to strengthen and blossom has encouraged many to provide tennis opportunities in the same vein and we hope that the nation will be better as we reach the children and teach the next generation.
