The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) will host its 2023 AID Junior Nationals Championships at the National Tennis Centre. This tournament which awards the highest ranking points for the calendar year will feature some great talent. Players will compete in the U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18 categories and new national champions will be crowned for 2023. The tournament gets underway at 9 a.m. (Saturday, June 10th) at the National Tennis Centre.
Our title sponsor Automotive and Industrial Distributors Ltd (AID) stated that “AID is thrilled to be the official sponsor of The Bahamas Junior Nationals Tennis Championships. As an avid supporter of the tennis community in The Bahamas for over thirty years, we are honoured to support this tournament; the pinnacle of local tennis competition for the youth of this country. The Company believes wholeheartedly that sports instil the discipline, perseverance, and responsibility needed to build well-rounded, productive citizens, and is excited to be a part of this remarkable sporting event.”
The Aid Nationals will see close to 100 players with representation from New Providence, Grand Bahama, Exuma and Eleuthera. The local tennis tournaments continue to show growth as some divisions have 32 and 16-draw sizes. The younger divisions (U8 and U10) are not ranked and seek to introduce new players to tournament competition. The sets are shorter and the players play in a round-robin format against other players in the pool. The bigger divisions will play the best of 3 tiebreak sets. We have the 2022 winners coming back to defend their national titles. There will also be new faces to Nationals. There will be over 30 juniors competing in their 1st Nationals Championships and we wish them all strong performances.
Dasani, RMS Insurance Agents and Powerade are also proud sponsors of the Tennis Nationals Championships. The event takes place on June 10th and 11th for the younger division. For the U12-U18, the tournament is scheduled for Friday, June 16th – Wednesday, June 21st. The event will be a great one and we look forward to the junior talent that will be on display.
You are invited to come to the National Tennis Centre at starting today 9 am to watch our young tennis athletes(U8 & U10) compete. Most of the developmental players in the U8 and U10 divisions will play in their first Nationals. The older categories will take to the courts on Friday, June 16th at 2pm. The future of tennis is bright with so many tennis diamonds shining.
