Alexander Murbach and Caitlin Drake were double crown champions. Alexander is a repeat champion, capturing the title in 2022 and 2023. We had exciting matches with top talent on display in all the categories. There was player representation from Abaco and we are pleased with the island’s participation. The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association is delighted to have successfully conducted another Senior Nationals. This is the second tournament conducted post-Covid and with the return to competition last year we honored Past-President Wesley Rolle. This year we are pleased with the mix of veteran and new faces to the senior competition scene as we witness an increase in tennis interest at all levels. Congratulations to all the participants who continue to perform at such a high level.
On hand to present the trophies were the BLTA President Perry Newton, Vice President Chilean Burrows and BLTA Secretary Cameel McDonald. President Newton presented the ITF Tennis Excellence that was awarded to the BLTA recently in Mexico, he noted that everyone should be proud of the part they played in The Bahamas being bestowed such a great honor. Another successful Senior Nationals has concluded and we look forward to some exciting events on the horizon including the Abaco Tennis Association’s Sheri Roberts Open in Marsh Harbor Abaco, October 21st-22nd
and the Grand Bahama Tennis Association Junior tennis tournament, October 26th- 29th 2023.
