The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) Play Tennis Program has resumed. The program which saw over 50 kids pre-pandemic has started up with great interest and with proper safety protocols. The goal is to introduce kids to the sport of tennis so they can play the game and have fun in a safe environment.
The BLTA thanks those persons who have volunteered their time and talent to the program. The building up of these young persons spurs growth into tennis and provides a channel to transfer the joy of tennis to the next generation of tennis players. It is our hope that the majority of the kids will continue with tennis lessons once they have completed this introductory program. We will then begin to shape and mould a new set of players in preparation for their tennis growth.
In the first session in the new year, the kids were introduced to the forehand and the forehand volley which they executed well. The program is a free program with a registration fee of $1. The low cost is to ensure the association can reach children who are interested in the sport but may not have the resources or access to Tennis.
Group pictures are attached with instructors Ricardo Demeritte and Donte Armbrister. Also on hand were President Perry Newton and Junior Tennis Initiative(JTI) Coordinator Shayvon Clarke. If you are interested in being a part of the team to coach or assist with the Saturday sessions kindly let us know via return email.
